Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #9 by the Cincinnati Bengals

And with the #9 overall pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

USC OLB Keith Rivers

Bio

thatswhatshesaid with the pick:

Despite spending the past couple of years focusing on the defensive side of the ball in the Draft, Cincinnati still pretty much sucks on defense. And while they will need to make improvements to their offense as well, with the whole Chad Johnson situation, there is no wideout worth taking.

They would love for Sedrick Ellis to fall to #9, and would pounce on him then just as the Chiefs would jump on Jake Long if he dropped to #5. If Ellis is gone, which he is in this Mock Draft, they would like turn their attention to another USC Trojan. OLB Keith Rivers. While the defensive line presents a more pressing need, there is no great value at either d-tackle or d-end at this point, with Ellis and Long and Gholston and Dorsey all gone. So, they address another big need, an outside linebacker to go along with Ahmad Brooks in the middle. They signed Dhani Jones this offseason, but he is better suited to a reserve role, and the other outside linebacker (Rashad Jeanty) is nothing to write home about.

1. Miami Dolphins - QB Matt Ryan
2. St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long
3. Atlanta Falcons - DT Glenn Dorsey
4. Oakland Raiders - DE Chris Long
5. Kansas City Chiefs - DT Sedrick Ellis
6. New York Jets - RB Darren McFadden
7. New England Patriots - DL Vernon Gholston
8. Baltimore Ravens - OT Ryan Clady
9. Cincinnati Bengals - OLB Keith Rivers

On the clock: New Orleans Saints (skibum 1537)

Up tomorrow: skibum 1537, MAWK and styg50

Hell of a typo
ESPN's draft page has Rivers listed at 6'10"...somehow I doubt it :)
Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting something evil.

Bengals have no choice
Remember the game they played against the Chiefs and they had to move their best DE to LB because they didn't have enough?  Yeah, Bengals need help on pretty much everywhere on the defensive side, ESPECIALLY at Linebacker.

Though I can see them maybe being interested in trading up for Dorsey or Ellis if anyone was willing.

Hint, Hint
I would take that trade any day - If we did trade them 1st rounders, what else could we expect to get?  Could we get their second this year and something next year?

according to the...
draft trade chart, the #5 overall pick is worth 1700 points. the #9 pick is worth 1350 points, making a difference of 350 points.

that is the equivalent of a mid-to-late second round pick (#55 to be exact), which the bengals obviously don't have. however, it also equals an early third and early fourth rounder combined, so i guess that is what we could expect.

which i would take in a second, we need all of the draft picks we can get.
