Chiefs Activate RB Jackie Battle From the Practice Squad

The Kansas City Chiefs activated running back Jackie Battle, formerly of the practice squad. Battle was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad back on November 21st.

The Chiefs also added TE Zack Alcorn and LB Mickey Pimental to the practice squad.

As soon as I figure it out, I'll update this with who was dropped. UPDATE WEDS PM: LB Pat Thomas was put on injured reserved, freeing up a spot for Jackie Battle. DE Claude Harriot was let go from the practice squad. With the promotion of Battle from the practice squad, that freed up the two spots for Alcorn and Pimental.

For now, enjoy this highlight clip of Jackie Battle. (Music plays)

My take
He is not as big, fast, or strong as LJ, but:
  1. Larry Johnson
  2. Michael Bennett
  3. Priest Holmes
  4. Kolby Smith
  5. Gilbert "Walking man" Harris
  6.  JACKIE BATTLE
If we need to sign someone to the practice squad, and then activate him as our 6th RB, I will gladly take a poor man's LJ.

Besides, I would much rather have a 6th string RB with the attitude to attack the holes, than a 6th RB, p-squad promotee, who just runs slowly and falls at the first hit.

I am quite interested to see what the kid can do.  We do need a 3rd RB.  LJ, Kolby, and ?.  It sure as hell isn't Gilbert Harris.  Let's get another stud in the stable, if that is what he is.

Uhm...
They list him at 6'2" 238 on the roster, that would be bigger.   If he was in the same ballpark as LJ with regard to speed and strength I suspect we woulda heard of him before now.

Jackie Battle doesn't believe in uphill battles because the only kind of hill Jackie Battle allows to exist are downhill.

Oh YEAH
Is it too much to hope that in press conferences he speaks entirely in the thrid person?

Maybe even with a slight Mr. T inflection...

"Jackie Battle isn't scared of defenses, Jackie Battle eats defenses for breakfast!"

"Jackie Battle once scored three touchdowns in one play against Memphis Tech"

"Jackie Battle claims to have knocked the entire Methodist out of every player that has ever played for SMU"

"Jackie Battle once rushed for over 200 vertical yards against North Mississippi State"

"Jackie Battle change U Hawaii's mascot be Rainbows are too magical and the only thing magical allowed on the same field as Jackie Battle is Jackie Battle's mad cuts"

"Jackie Battle doesn't measure his stats in rushing yards because Jackie Battle refuses to be rushed anywhere, he measures them in casualties and straight rollin yards"

"When asked if Jackie Battle is his real name he assures any doubters that the word 'Battle' was named after him"

I hope that is real
The only thing that can make us smile the rest of the season would be 3 press conferences from a 6th string RB repeatedly referring to himself as if he were Mohammed Ali.

How entertaining would that be?!

Parade, you are right
I should have written "He does not look as big, fast, or strong as LJ."

I do not think he is anything great.  I don't know anything about him other than the clip above.  But the clip showed his running style looks like LJ's.  I doubt he would be able to run anything near LJ's ability.

However, he is our 6th RB this year and we don't really have 3rd RB right now.  I would like to get a look at him, to see if he is anything near his highlight reel.

If his style is really similar to LJ's, it would be easy for the new O-line next year to adjust to him if/when he gives LJ his breather (that is if LJ is still here next year).

Battleship
I am telling you folks- as a Univ of Houston alumni- Battleship is the man.  He never played on an empty stomach because he would make hamburger meat out of the defensive line. Looks like Christmas came early.
